Scarlet Letter

"Cause you were romeo i was a scarlet letter"
The scarlet letter is a book written in the 17th century based in Boston, Massachusetts. The scarlet letter is something a girl wears to represent adultery. The scarlet letter "A" represents the act of adultery that a woman has committed and it is to be a symbol of her sin – a badge of shame for all to see.
This relates to Love Story by Taylor Swift because the scarlet letter is a bad thing. And possible her dad put this scarlet letter on her. So when him and her are together, people will look down on him and give him crap for being together. Then in her dad's mind he will get sick of everything he was getting and give up and his daughter, than they would no longer be together. Another way to look at it was she was like wasn't good enough for him in her mind. So she was a badge of shame to show off to the world. And he was romeo, who was the guy all the girls wanted and no one could have because she had him but she felt like she would never be good enough for him.

I dont know if you read the book but this kinda reminds me of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice a little bit. With Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy

I like how you gave two viewpoints to this. Maybe he is the romeo in her eyes and then she is the scarlet letter in her fathers eyes. You kind of said this but i dunno if this is exactly what you meant?

Do you think it seems like she is proud to go against her dad and be "the scarlet letter" to be with romeo like how Juliet went against her family and became "a scarlet letter" to be with romeo? Her love for him is more important to her than a badge of shame in her dad's eyes?

I think she is just a scarlet letter in her father's eyes if she were to be discovered in the garden meeting with Romeo, but it doesn't have anything to do with adultery. Scarlet letter just means her father would have been really mad because he told her to stay away.

In the book "The Scarlet Letter", Hester had committed adultery and wore the red letter as her punishment. Her daughter, Pearl, was known as a scarlet letter, symbolizing sin and shame from her mother's act. Perhaps Juliet is the illegitimate offspring of one of her parents adulterous acts (the mother I would guess) and thats why she just wants to run away and get married since she feels that her dad looks down at her and would never condone a formal wedding. All is set right in the verse"I talked to your Dad, go pick a white dress", meaning that her father accepts her as his rightful daughter and has told Romeo that he will condone a formal wedding. The white dress reinforcing the Dad's proudness in a way that Pearl's Dad begrudged his daughter Pearl until he was about to pass away.
